Welcome to Glenwood Springs Elementary School
New GSES Kindergartners!
Fourth graders explore our watershed in the classroom and on the riverbanks with Roaring Fork Conservancy!
Learning Targets are an example of purposeful, student-centered learning at GSES.
Students get ready to lead the school in the Pledge of Allegiance at our first All-School Crew meeting. Our school comes together once a month to celebrate high-quality student work and show how the GSES Habits of a Scholar come alive every day at GSES. Most of all, we love to come together to see how we are a part of this wonderful community of learning!
In the Spring of 2012, GSES officially became an Expeditionary Learning school. Teachers, community members and the Board of Education worked together to adopt this exciting school model for GSES. GSES has now entered a long-term relationship with Expeditionary Learning Schools that includes a model for teaching and learning, a school designer, and local and national professional learning opportunities for teachers.
What is Expeditionary Learning?
Expeditionary Learning schools inspire the motivation to learn, engage teachers, and students in new levels of focus and effort, and transform schools into places where students and adults become leaders of their own learning. We provide a model that challenges students – even those starting with low skill levels – with high-level tasks and active roles in the classroom. This model succeeds in urban, rural, and suburban schools and at every grade level. For more information visit elschools.org.
