English Language Development

The English Language Development (ELD) team is very excited for the shift to Expeditionary Learning. Our team works closely with grade level teams in supporting our English Language Learners. The focus of our instruction is targeted to our students’ reading, writing, speaking, listening, and thinking skills. We are also members of our grade level crew classes. This year, ELD teachers are working with students within grade level Grizzly block groups. Each Grizzly Block group has a different focus, but some examples of work include projects, research, speaking skills, community service, and support with content that students are learning in their homeroom classes. The focus for academic areas, such as writing, literacy and math comes in the form of a push- in model. ELD teachers can be found modifying lessons, planning and teaching lessons, and supporting small groups within the regular education classroom. We are so excited to be a part of our students’ lives here at GSES, and to make learning a fun and rewarding experience for our English Language Learners.

GSES Highlights

Student Portal

Habits of a Scholar

At GSES, we know that there is a relationship between our “habits” of work and learning and student achievement. Practicing our five habits help us to “do our best” and “be our best” in school and life every day.

GSES Habits of a Scholar

Enthusiasm and Wonder: I can be excited and curious about learning and working with others.

Teamwork: I can work with others to achieve a common goal.

Compassion: I can care for myself and others.

Responsibility: I can be trusted to make good choices.

Determination: I can stick to a challenge even though it may be difficult.
