Kindergarten

Kindergarten is an exciting time of exploration and growth! This is an important year for building a strong foundation in literacy, math, science and social studies. Through expeditions and thematic units, students learn playfully, but tackle important academic skills in the process. Some of our most exciting expeditions include an annual trip to the fire department, raising chicks, growing plants, and observing insects. Everyday students sing songs, play games, listen to stories and explore the alphabet to help them learn important literacy skills. In math, they explore shapes, patterns, and numbers, learning to count by 1's and 10's, as well as add and subtract. Students also learn about important Habits of a Scholar that will support their success for years to come. These habits are woven into the curriculum, improving social skills, confidence and motivation. The kinder teachers love seeing the amazing transformation that takes place during this exciting first year of school!
